UPDATE: According to reports, officials were alerted by a local mail carrier reporting that during their routine delivery on Rohner Road south of Greensburg Tuesday August 7, they noticed the burned house and something appeared to be suspicious. Upon arrival officials found the homeowner, John Nelson Hornsby, a white male in his late 70's deceased in the driveway with his vehicle near-by. The St. Helena coroner has determined the cause of death to be blunt forced trauma to the head. The body appeared to be burned on the side that was facing the house, most likely caused by flames from the burning home. The home is located in the middle of the woods making it impossible to see from the road. It burned to the ground and went out before it was noticed. Sheriff Nat Williams stated the department will be working diligently with Louisiana State Police and other agencies to determine what took place and to bring the person or persons responsible to justice. Anyone with information is asked to contact the St. Helena Parish Sheriff Department detective division at 888-200-4905. " We are a quiet community and we will not tolerate such violence," said Sheriff Williams.
