Amite Councilman Mark Vining
During the Amite Town Council's Tuesday, July 6th meeting, two council members allocated funds to be used for repairs. The Amite Street Department will use this money for much needed canal and drainage repairs in two different locations in town.

Councilman Mark Vining set aside $20,000 from his district funds for the purpose of pipe replacement and canal work near Second Street. Apparently, the town is having problems with flooding in that area. New pipe will be put down and the canals will be filled in on both sides.

Vining also assigned $6800 to be used to repair fields at Fleet Easley Park. This money will be used to try to keep the small fields from flooding so badly. This money, as well as, the $20,000 for the street department is from Vining prior budget.

Councilwoman Rose Sumrall agreed to dispense $10,000 of her prior budget to the street department as well. This money will be used to fix culverts on Duncan Avenue and Reid Avenue.
