For the last six months the city of New Orleans has been getting a whole lot of attention due to the World Champion New Orleans Saints.  The Saints won several ESPN ESPY Awards, the Saints Gulf South Tour is coming to an end after showing the entire Gulf South the Vince Lombardi Trophy and now the Saints are set to open their first training camp as defending Super Bowl Champions.

All of that is plenty enough to garner a lot of national attention but another huge story has called all eyes of the Sports World to focus even more on the “Big Easy.”  The best Point Guard in the game today could have played his last game in a New Orleans Hornets Uniform.

Yes there is plenty of “Buzz” going on way down yonder in New Orleans and that “Buzz” is not of the Hornets Team itself but yet instead a “Buzz” of a different tune. This tune does not sound as soulful as group of musicians playing on the corner of Iberville and Dauphine in the French Quarter but it is a tune that is downright awful to those who want to see New Orleans become one of the most recognized sports cities in the land.

Chris Paul, AKA CP3 has been rumored to what to be on his way out of New Orleans as a Hornets Player and last week those rumors seemingly became more true.  Several media outlets have reported that those closes to CP say that he has a legit exit plan to help him leave the “Big Easy” and bolt for either Orlando or New York. 

So as one team embarks on what we all hopes to be another Super season, the other is further away from one after being so very close just a few seasons ago.  Just like the majority of problems that happen in life, the CP3 situation did not happen overnight.

After winning 56 games and finishing 2nd in the Western Conference behind the Lakers the Hornets had an incredible season that saw them push the San Antonio Spurs to seven games in the Western Conference Semi-Finals.

But since then things have steadily gone down hill for the Hornets. The team tried to trade one of CP3’s best teammates in Tyson Chandler on to see that trade fall through.  Even though Chandler did finish that season with the Hornets the damage was done to CP.

Then in the fall of 2009, CP’s Coach, Byron Scott was fired without the All-Star being notified. Paul would go on to miss 37 games in the 2009-2010 season and the Hornets would miss the playoffs for the first time in two seasons.

Since the end of this season the team has a new coach, a new General Manager, a new owner could soon be in place and the worst of all that new stuff is that we could have a new starting Point Guard.

Yes Darren Collision had an incredible season as a rookie but he is no CP. Not yet anyway.  And now the best player in the Hornets Franchise History could be on his way out.  With all of that said this is not a LeBron James thing.

LBJ held most of the cards for his destination to Miami where in this deal the Hornets are the ones holding all the trump cards. If Paul is to be traded the Hornets could get some decent players in return and could also become much better from a financial position with the stroke of a pen.

The bad news is that Paul does not want to be here and if he does not want to be here it would be hard to imagine that he would want to play his best every night.  The good news is that all of this drama is going on right now instead of two years from now when Paul, like LeBron, would be holding all the cards.

So weather you look at the glass half empty or half full things could be better and or they could be worse. So as we enter the first week of training camp with the defending world champs of the NFL the story that could lead to the best PG in the NBA moving out of town the City of New Orleans will get plenty of more attention this week, perhaps the most ever and all eyes of the sports world will be peaking in on the “Big Easy.”
