He has only been in town about two weeks but new Hornets GM Dell Demps has gotten off to quick start in revamping the Hornets Roster. Demps orchestrated a four-team trade that sent PG Darren Collison and Forward James Posey to the Indiana Pacers.

In ex-change the Hornets get the Rockets Trevor Ariza. The Hornets were involved in a deal that also included the New Jersey Nets with New Orleans getting Ariza from Houston.

“This move gives us a dynamic addition to our roster,” said GM Dell Demps. “Trevor is an athletic, defending, scoring wing who is in the prime of his career at 25 years of age. He has been in pressure situations in his career, won a championship and can do a multitude of variables on the floor.”

Trevor Ariza had a big year with the Rockets last season as he averaged 14.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists in seventy-two games with seventy-one starts. Ariza was a key role player in the Los Angeles Lakers 2009 run to the NBA Title.

And Demps was not done as he quickly pulled the trigger again as he sent Swingman Julian Wright to the Toronto Raptors for Guard Marco Belinelli. Wright never lived up to his draft status after being taken with the 13th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

With the moves the Hornets go from being over the cap to under the cap and they have gotten better. With the addition of Ariza and Belinelli the Hornets are more athletic on both ends of the court and the outside shooting of Belinelli gives the Hornets another serious threat from three-point range hitting 38 percent of his shots behind the arc.

“Marco is an excellent shooter who can help spread the floor and give us added depth in the backcourt," Hornets General Manager Dell Demps said in a statement from the Hornets. So in the first two months of the Monty Williams era and the first two weeks of the Dell Demps era, the Hornets have been actively aggressive in trying to move the franchise in the right direction.

In two months time the Hornets got younger and better and they are not weighted down with big contracts that don’t produce big numbers.  Posey, Ju Ju and Mo Pete are no longer here and that can only be a good thing for this team.

The Hornets did lose a rising star in Darren Collison but let’s be real Collison’s numbers were very good because of not only his play but the amount of time he spent on the court due to Chris Paul missing 37 games.

To me it seems like the “new look” Hornets are committing to winning and trying to win championships. But the million dollar question is does CP3 think the Hornets are committed?
