AMITE--Katie Beckers of Tangipahoa Parish won the title of 2012 Horse Premier Exhibitor during the 43rd Annual Louisiana 4-H and FFA State Horse Show on July 10-14 in West Monroe's Ike Hamilton Expo Center.

Beckers received a $500 savings bond and a Premier Exhibitor jacket and belt buckle.

Premier Exhibitor awards sponsored by the Gerry Lane Foundation are given to participants who display a true knowledge of the horse program. Each exhibitor is tested on skills and knowledge of horses through an exam, interview and resume process.

The LSU AgCenter also announced the following winners from Tangipahoa Parish:

--Stake Race, 13 and under: fifth Kimberly Hart, 10th Robert Straughan

--Stake Race, 14 and over: fourth, Chelsea Smith

--Barrel Racing, 13 and Under: ninth, Kimberly Hart

--Barrel Racing, 14 and Over: seventh, Luke Addison; 10th, Kimberly Hart

--Pole Bending, 14 and Over: second, Luke Addison; 10th, Amanda Boe

--Western Horsemanship, 14 and Over: 10th, Amanda Boe

--Dressage, 14 and Over: second, Katie Beckers
