Dear Amite community,
When our bishop appointed me to pastor First United Methodist Church of Amite, I did not know what to expect.
What I have found is a very special community, and I am anxious to determine why it is so special. It may be in large part because of the various churches’ presence and influence.
Jesus can do that. Until I find out, thank you for your gracious welcome to Melanie and me, thank you for who you are, and please come to our church on North Duncan, and the parsonage next door.
Our church is here for a reason – as are you – and perhaps we can live and love and work together to achieve God’s reason and purpose for us all being here.
I look forward to each season in this new season of my life, and I hope you are at peace and fulfilled in your season.
I was born in Baton Rouge, spent a few young years in Franklinton, came for learnin’ at LSU, and am now back in this community representing a great denomination, the people called United Methodists. Thanks be to God.
Respectfully,
Reverend David R. Melville
