Editor:
As pastor of the Orange Grove Church of God In Christ, I would like to extend words of gratitude to the Kentwood Fire Department and Ms. Chapman of the Amite Tangi Digest and Kentwood News Ledger for helping us to drive home our Vacation Bible School Theme for 2012... “Adventures On Promise Island.”
Firefighter Cody Waller gave our Vacation Bible School Adventurers first hand experience with donning fire protection gear, and a fire protection safety talk with emphasis on practices that will prevent fires.
They were given an opportunity to view the fire engine up close. This gave us the practical application needed for the teaching of our first lesson this summer..
The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego being tossed into the firer furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar when these young men refused to bow to the statue he had erected for worship and God’s appearing in the fiery furnace with them.
Again we thank the Fire Department of Kentwood for helping to make this year’s VBS an adventurous one. In a practical way our students know that God Promises to be with them in their many adventurers of life, if they remain faithful to Him.
