COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Bobby Vega (College of DuPage, Ill.), Fidel Montgomery (Southwest Mississippi CC) and De'Joshua Johnson (Arizona Western College) have been named NJCAA Football Players of the Week for games Sept. 8 through Sept. 10.
Vega was named Offensive Player of the Week, while the Defensive Player of the Week was Montgomery. Johnson took home Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Montgomery (5' 11" / 179 lbs.) put forth an inspirational effort last Thursday but the Bears fell short in a 32-9 loss at Northeast Mississippi CC. The sophomore defensive back tallied 18 solo tackles and 23 total. Montgomery also forced three Northeast fumbles. The Bears and Montgomery will stay on the road this Thursday as they head to No. 15 Pearl River CC (Miss.).
