The Spring Creek Church was organized in 1859 with 15 charter members. Six of them were women and they were seated separately during the services according to a booklet written fro the parish women’s missionary society: 1914-1964.

They reorganized in 1937. Officers have included Lena Strickland, Flounce McDaniel, Mittie McDaniel, Mrs. D.E. Coyle, Velma Varnado, Elvah Strickland, Christine Wall, Eola Graham Gill, Tince McDaniel, and Joyce Forrest.

Pastors have included “Brother” William R. Cutrer, H. A. Syvest, Otis Varnado, D.E. Coyle, James Thorn, O. F. Hammons, Thurston Brice, Howard Courtney, Harold McNabb, Walker Campbell, Lenno Powell, Ory Miller, Bill Boulton, and others. Danny Smith is pastor today.

The community includes the modern brick church, cemetery and school. Mr. Wiley Pierce said the routes of roads had changed since he was a boy. The Register of Baton Rouge once did a pictured feature of the activities of the church’s history, including foot washing to show humility and service, I think…
