Liquid sunshine on 2 Guns set in Amite
The 2 Guns crew and cast gets a respite from the heat July 27 in Amite. By 3:30 p.m., the rains let up. This scene is at the heart of filming near the old bank building, now occupied by Amite Chamber of Commerce. It's across from Mama Maybelle's Diner, a set that will be engulfed in a dramatic fire. Across the street, the Amite Police Station has been a set, with Chief Jerry Trabona's office and the town jail. Photo by Sherie Needham.

2 Guns in Amite: Blessed with little rain, cursed with hot weather
Image 1 / 6

AMITE--Cast and crew of the film 2 Guns in Amite have been blessed with little rain--and cursed with hot weather during shooting the week of July 23.

The crew is ready with awnings for rain, shine or shade.

Portable air conditioners are trucked in from film service companies in New Orleans and elsewhere. One unit cooled the vintage black Ford Bronco used by Denzel Washington.

Another pumped extra chill into the bank building, where 16-foot ceilings filled with hot air from lighting equipment inside.

The 2 Guns prepared July 26 as stars Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington played their characters as a CIA agent and a DEA agent inside the Amite Police Station.

Hundreds of movie fans seek shade at Coach Catha Park, near the cities' new 9/11 Memorial waterfall.

Others stake out benches in front of Central Ave. Sports Bar, tables at The Boston and shade near the Amite Police Station.
