AMITE--District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that on August 1, 2012, Vernon E. Sweeney Jr., 46, was sentenced to five years with the department of corrections after pleading guilty to Pornography Involving Juveniles.
Assistant District Attorney Angel Monistere prosecuted the case with Judge Zoey Waguespack presiding.
According to police reports, officers from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Sweeney’s home on December 16, 2011.
An on-site examination revealed images and videos of child pornography on the defendant’s computer hard drive.
Sweeney, of West Factory Street, Amite, was subsequently arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
He must serve his sentence without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence, said Perrilloux.
