HAMMOND – Nathan Stanley completed 11-of-19 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown with Tony McCrea catching four passes for 126 yards to lead Southeastern Louisiana University in its second fall scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Strawberry Stadium.
Brian Young and Jordan Barnett each threw TD passes for Southeastern while Stanley, Zeke Jones and Rasheed Harrell each scored on rushing touchdowns.
Stanley, who completed six of his final seven passes, connected with McCrea on a 32-yard scoring pass. The duo later connected on passes of 36 and 49 yards as they worked against the No. 1 defense.
Young, who went 5-for-10 for 24 yards, tossed a 3-yard scoring pass to LaTruan Weary to cap a 60-yard drive while Barnett went 1-for-5, hitting newcomer Jerry Anderson in stride on a 61-yard scoring strike.
Jones, a senior from Springfield, gained 59 yards on nine carries to lead Southeastern on the ground. The senior scored on a 10-yard TD run that capped a 60-yard drive for the Lions. Harrell, a freshman from Miami, Fla., gained 54 on 12 carries scoring on a 7-yard run early in the scrimmage while Jordan Wells and Michael Chaney gained 48 and 34 yards each respectively.
Freshman Brandon Snell caught a scrimmage-high five passes for Southeastern while Anderson caught a pair of passes for 77 yards. Seth Sebastian converted on four field goals – all from beyond 40 yards – while Ryan Adams added a 42-yard field goal.
Defensively, Kaleb Muse led Southeastern with six tackles while Theo Alexander, Tyler Stoddard and Nikko Taylor had four stops each. Freshman Harlan Miller picked off a Young pass in the left corner of the end zone while Cqulin Hubert forced a fumble that was recovered by Alexander to stop a drive by the offense.
