Hosting the shower were Betty Alleman, Cora Faul, Sookie Hopkins, Georgette Richard, Deanie Riley and Nadine Wilks.
An assorted of cakes including chocolate, hummingbird, lemon, pineapple, red velvet and strawberry, petitfors, tea cakes and brownies were among the many delicious refreshments served. Coffee and pineapple punch were also served.
The Wilks home was beautifully decorated with tables covered with crocheted tablecloths over pale green liners. Centered on the tables were Victorian vases filled with pink miniature roses adding an elegant touch to the decor.
On her special day, the honoree was lovely in a navy cardigan featuring three-quarter length sleeves with a single button closure worn over an ivory dress with a navy floral design accented with a ribbon sash at the waist. She was presented with corsage of miniature pink carnations with white ribbon adorned with two gold wedding bands.
The bride-to-be’s mother chose a brown linen pants suit for the special occasion, while the mother of the groom-elect wore a purple and black floral top with black slacks. Both were presented with corsages of miniature pink carnations with white ribbon.
Out of town guests traveled from Crowley, Broussard, Carencro, Lafayette, Scott and Youngsville.
Special guests were Joyce M. Richard and Betty M. Lawson, grandmothers of the bride.
The couple will wed at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne. A reception will follow at the Rice Festival Building.
