The club held no meetings during the summer, however, members participated in many events. On June 12, Earleen Boyce, Joyce Coreil and Lynn Landreneau attended the Area Four meeting in Crowley. Landreneau presented a program entitled "Reduce, Reuse Recycle - Go Green."
During the month of July, two workshops were held at the home of Sarah Webb for the purpose of making "ouche dudes" for the Ville Platte and Mamou health units. Lap robes and wheel chair bags for nursing homes also were made. Several members enjoyed an out-of-town shopping trip.
On July 31, a board meeting was held at the home of Lynn Landreneau to formulate plans for the club year 2008-2009. These plans were approved by the club at the meeting.
After the meeting, Landreneau presented the "Reduce, Reuse Recycle - Go Green" program to the club. She said, "Most homes are filled with collections of items not used by the owner. Americans become collectors because it signifies success, happiness, comfort and entertainment." Members were encouraged to practice the three "r's:" reduce, reuse and recycle to reduce waste and clutter while saving hard-earned money, energy, water and other resources. Hand outs gave ideas on how to use less water, save energy, as well as the use of clean green homemade cleaners.
A luncheon and bingo game followed the meeting.
