• Kentwood’s own Ann Smith will join the Southern University Board of Supervisors and Agricultural and Mechanical College after Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Smith on July 14.
• A small crowd gathered at City Hall in the Village of Tangipahoa to hear the hot issue of utility theft by village residents. Village Magistrate Vanessa Williams told council members there have been seven cases to appear before her all in one month regarding theft of utilities. “We have been cracking down on this growing concern and it’s important that residents understand the village is not going to tolerate habitual offenders,” Williams told council members.
