Town of Kentwood May 3, 2018
The Town Council of the Town of Kentwood, Louisiana met in regular session at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at City Hall, with Mayor Irma T. Gordon presiding. Mayor Gordon called the meeting to order following the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. The roll was called with the following results:
A Public Hearing was held to amend the Code of Ordinances concerning Fire Chief Position, and to approve Fire Chief Position and Salary
Present: Gary Callihan, Michael Hall, Terrell Hookfin, Paul Stewart
Absent: Irma Clines
A motion was offered by Paul Stewart, second by Michael Hall and unanimously carried to approve minutes of last month’s meeting(s).
A motion was offered by Gary Callihan, second by Michael Hall and unanimously carried to adopt amendment to the Code of Ordinances concerning Fire Chief Position. (Irma Clines Joined Meeting)
A motion was offered by Michael Hall, second by Paul Stewart and unanimously carried to approve Fire Chief Position, salary, and contract, salary will include hours worked, plus $1,300.00 a month.
A motion was offered by Gary Callihan, second by Irma Clines and unanimously carried to approve Clerk’s office to research and present cemetery fee increases for upcoming introduction to the amendment of the cemetery Ordinance.
David Sellers gave update on progress and engineering work proposal on the Avenue A Bridge.
Frank Newell with Newell Engineering discussed Recreation Park and gave update.
A motion was offered by Gary Callihan, second by Irma Clines and unanimously carried to approve the advertisement of Phase 1 for bid of the Kentwood’s Tangipahoa Parish Recreation Park.
Mayor Gordon discussed curfew hours.
Mayor Gordon presented formal notice of cancellation of Media 3 franchise agreement.
The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Gary Callihan, second by Michael Hall and unanimously carried.
