New charter school denied by school board

AMITE- The application from a new charter school to operate in Tangipahoa Parish was denied by the school board during its May 2 meeting.

Jackson’s STEM Prep Academy underwent evaluation by Ten Square, the board’s third party evaluator. State law requires that new charter schools applying to open in a parish undergo an evaluation by a third party evaluator approved by the state. The evaluator then makes its recommendation to the local board.
