Christmas tree safety
The holiday season is once again upon us, and the LSU AgCenter is stressing vigilance and safety with your Christmas tree.
One of the biggest concerns with fresh cut trees is not providing enough water for the tree when it’s brought into the house. The first night is important as the tree will take up a great deal of water the first 24 hours. Another problem can be that most people do know how long the tree has been on the lot before it’s bought. It is recommended the “choose-and-cut” variety to be sure of the tree’s condition. If you do buy from a retail store or lot, there are a few things you can do to help you determine how fresh the tree is.
