First Sergeant Kieron Vernon retiring with 27 years of service
First Sergeant Kieron Vernon has strong roots to the Amite/Roseland area. He is the nephew of Msgt. Marvin Vernon, Retired. Kieron is retiring after serving 27 years and rising to the top in the Army. He and his wife Diane, will be returning to those roots, by living on Hwy. 10, east of Roseland, near his family. Kieron and Diane are the parents of four children: Davon, Shanice, Shavonda and Alexis. A dinner and celebration in his honor will be held Saturday, June 16 at the Amite Community Center. Friends and family are invited to attend.
First Sergeant Kieron Vernon was born in New Orleans, and graduated from St. Augustine High School. He began his service in one-station unit training (OSUT) November 1991, graduating from Alpha Company Battalion 3rd Infantry Regiment 11 Bravo at Fort Benning, Georgia.
