Kentwood Town Council to revisit curfew law
Kentwood Town Council members may soon revisit the community's curfew ordinance with possible changes that will make it clearer after discussing the matter at length during their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, August 2.
The current ordinance prohibits youth under age 17 from being out between the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Saturdays, unsupervised.
The council spent time discussing the current ordinance that a committee decided and agreed upon in the past. However, some members believe the ordinance is confusing and therefore hard for the police department to enforce.
Council members are now looking for ways to be more productive and not just punish kids for being out at legitimate events.
