Residents take part in resolution tradition

As usual, the new year brings promises to lose weight and eat healthy. That is on the minds of many local residents as they begin 2018 with the age-old tradition: New Year’s resolutions. And, like many traditions, New Year’s resolutions have a long and interesting history.

The following are interesting facts about the new year found on the Life Science website:

New Year’s was first celebrated 4,000 years ago in ancient Babylon. The ancient Babylonians celebrated the New Year not in January, but in March, when the spring harvest came in. The festival, Akitu, lasted 12 days.
