School is back in session

While the first day of school often receives the attention, educators all across Tangipahoa Parish were making preparations weeks in advance and meeting with parents and students during meet and greet events before the doors opened on Thursday, August 10.

The meet and greets served as an opportunity for the young pupils to meet their teachers with their parents or guardians and get an idea of what to expect once classes started.

For schools under the Tangipahoa Parish School System, a special guest paid them a visit. Over the course of Thursday and Friday, TPSS Superintendent Mark Kolwe visited many of the campuses to see how the first two days of school were going at each campus.

“I think the first few schools I have been to so far are off to a good start,” Kolwe said on Thursday. He said that aside from some minor bus route issues, the first day was rolling smoothly.
