St. Helena Council on Aging monthly lunch
St. Helena Parish senior citizens were treated to a lunch of barbecue chicken, potato salad, baked beans and strawberry cake at the third Thursday lunch meeting of the Council on Aging held at the FBC Greensburg Fellowship Hall. A crowd of over 80 filled the hall to listen to short presentations from vendors.
The first vendor was Frankie Poland with Southern University. Ms. Poland informed everyone of options available to provide services to aid in tobacco and smoking cessation. She noted that any Louisiana resident born before September 1, 1988 qualifies for free medications, group and individual counseling and quit line coaching. For information on this service, residents can call 225-771-6237.
