TPSO News Release - July 9 - Narcotics Related Arrests
HAMMOND, LA - (July 9, 2018) - Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports the arrest of three individuals for possessing of suspected heroin.
On Monday July 2, 2018, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Highway 1064 near the intersection of Highway 1065 for improper lane usage. Upon coming into contact with the driver, 19-year-old Loranger resident Nathaniel SHORT, Street Crimes Detectives observed a small amount of suspected heroin in the driver side door as he exited.
During the course of the investigation, Street Crimes Detectives identified the other occupants as 37-year-old Kelly SHARP of Lorganer and 18-year-old Ponchatoula resident Seth McGhee. It was later learned Kelly SHARP provided a false last name in attempt to hide her true identify due to her having outstanding warrants through the 21st Judicial District Court.
Street Crimes Detectives conducted search of the vehicle for any additional contraband. Upon searching the rear seat area of the vehicle, Street Crimes Detectives located a cigar wrapper with five (5) individually wrapped pieces of suspected heroin. All subject provided conflicting statements and all denied ownership of the suspected heroin.
All there subjects were arrested on the following charges:
Nathaniel Short - 32:79 – Improper lane usage, 32:52 – No drivers license and 40:966 – Possession of schedule I “Heroin”.
Seth McGhee - 40:966– Possession of schedule I “Heroin”.
Kelly Short - Outstanding warrants and 40:966– Possession of schedule I “Heroin”.
