Lady Lions hold green and gold scrimmage

From Southeastern Athletics

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women’s soccer team
squared off against each other in the Green and Gold Game to wrap up
the first week of practice for the 2017 season in Strawberry Stadium
Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Gabbi Anderson and juniors Christina Cutura and Sofia
Olsson scored for the Green squad while sophomore Amber Marinero
netted a pair for the Gold. The scrimmage was divided into three
20-minute periods.

“It’s nice to get out and play 11 a side and get everybody out,”
Southeastern head coach Chris McBride said. “We have a lot of new
faces and it was nice to see everybody happy and enjoying themselves.
It gives us a chance to look at some things and try different systems
of play, a couple of new packages in there, and see what Southeastern
is going to do this year. It was very positive. We got everything out
of it we needed to get out of it and it’s looking promising.”

Southeastern will get its first look at a different opponent
Thursday when it travels to Southern Mississippi for an exhibition
match at 4 p.m. The Lady Lions officially open McBride’s first season
as head coach against Jackson State Friday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. in
Strawberry Stadium.
