From Southeastern Athletics

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana women’s soccer head coach
Chris McBride is one of 30 coaches selected to the 2017-18 United
Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Program.

McBride is in his first year as head coach of the Lady Lions after
having served as an assistant at Martin Methodist, North Alabama and
South Alabama. The native of Prestwick, Scotland opens his debut
season against Jackson State on Friday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. in
Strawberry Stadium.

A total of 15 men and 15 women were selected from over 300
applicants for the 30 Under 30 Program. Launched in 2013, the program
is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity for a select few
up-and-comers who have made soccer coaching their career of choice. It
is designed to give participants exposure to membership, and the
opportunity to take advantage of educational offerings, such as
diplomas and the United Soccer Coaches Convention.

Each participant receives an educational scholarship which
provides registrations for the United Soccer Coaches Convention and an
Advanced Diploma course of the coach’s choosing. In addition, members
of the 30 Under 30 Program are matched with a mentor dedicated to
fostering their growth in the game and expanding their coaching
network.

“It’s going to be a good program to be a part of and I’m excited
to learn from some coaches with more experience than myself and who
are very successful in the career I am in,” McBride said. “I’m happy
to be a part of it and be able to connect with other coaches and learn
different philosophies and ty to become a better coach.”

McBride was one of 19 college coaches selected for this year’s
class. There were also seven club coaches, two high school coaches and
a pair of professional coaches named.
