Local coaches talk football at Amite Chamber meeting
The August meeting of the Amite Chamber at Mike’s Catfish was “all about football”. Coach Drew Misita of Oak Forest and Coach Zephaniah Powell of Amite High were the key speakers. The coaches gave season previews of their teams and answered questions from the audience.
Oak Forest Academy kicks off the high school football season this year with a new head coach in Drew Misita. He is a 2011 graduate of OFA and played college football for Southeastern. He had been a three year Assistant Coach to Jason Brabham, who stepped down after 17 years as head of the Jacket’s program. Misita is optimistic about the upcoming season with the return of six offensive and seven defensive starters. John White is the offensive coordinator this year with Misita responsible for the defense. With only ten seniors on the roster this year, several underclassmen will be having a lot of playing time and gaining experience.
